Total Remuneration Package: $231,159 - $255,262 pa

About the role:
The Director Governance, Audit, Risk & Legal leads and oversees the delivery of FRNSW's strategic governance, audit, risk and legal functions.
The role works across FRNSW to proactively enhance good governance practices ensuring identification and remediation of risk and strategic issues, seeking continuous improvement of standards, policy and procedures optimising outcomes of legal matters and maintaining regulatory compliance.
In this role you will lead a diverse team of governance and legal specialists in a dynamic emergency services environment.
About you:
You are an experienced leader, accustomed to motivating a team to deliver a diverse governance and legal service with a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills and strategic vision.
You thrive in a dynamic, challenging and rewarding environment bringing your flexibility, agility and sound decision-making skills to mitigate risk and take opportunities.
You are seen as a trusted adviser, with a track record of providing proactive solutions and options to a wide range of complex matters.
Beyond your governance and legal expertise, you excel in navigating relationships with finesse. You are experienced in empathising with diverse perspectives, influencing and negotiating, seeking compromise and bringing consensus decisions to a close.
Importantly, you are motivated to continuously improve 'the way we do things around here' ensuring good governance practices are part of our culture as much as our systems and processes.
You will have demonstrated extensive experience at a senior level, preferably within the public sector or comparable complex organisation.
Your unique multifaceted background, talents and strengths drawn from your life experiences enables you to lead with empathy, authenticity, and resilience, inspiring and guiding others towards shared goals with wisdom and understanding.
Essential Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or relevant experience.
