About the Department The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment is the Northern Territory's (NT) lead agency in the collection, provision of and access to natural resource data information and advice for government, research institutions, industry and the public.
DLPE holds extensive data assets – including geospatial and remote sensing products - and is heavily dependent on data for expert decision making, which helps underpin sustainable economic development and minimise environmental impacts.
To deliver on these functions, DLPE produces a diverse range of open data and information products and services that must be trusted, curated, contemporary and readily accessible.
About the Position This position is a permanent, full time position located in Palmerston, NT.
This senior role will provide strategic leadership in the management, maintenance and storage of environmental data, information technology and business systems for the department.
As the leader of the Environmental Data Branch (EDB), the position will collaborate and support processes across the department to ensure that data, technology and systems are consistent and optimise data outcomes that meet stakeholder needs.
This includes guiding and influencing decisions for leading edge geospatial, mapping, remote sensing and field data collection technologies.
The Director Environmental Data also plays an important governance and strategy role in leading an Expert Reference Group and advising senior executive on ICT and data considerations.
