This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the NIAA delegate. Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years. A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment; however, this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

The Opportunity: The NIAA has an exciting and unique opportunity for an EL2, Director in Rockhampton. The role will work in close and genuine partnership with First Nations people and communities throughout Central Queensland to positively influence improved Closing the Gap outcomes. The job will lead and shape relationships with key partners in Indigenous communities, the Commonwealth, State Governments, and private enterprise to deliver Government priorities aligned to community aspirations. The role works with a considerable degree of independence, under broad direction of the Regional Manager, and has a key responsibility to manage, support, and develop staff within their team.
You will be part of a regional team and report directly to the Regional Manager providing strategic support, leadership, and advice. Working in place and partnership is at the core of our work, and this position requires a strong level of engagement.

The successful candidate must have a current motor vehicle driver's license and be able to undertake intra and interstate travel. In our Operating Environment across NIAA, staff work closely with community members and develop intimate understandings of the regional and local needs and aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
