The Director, Dispute Resolution Support is a key leadership role in the Fair Work Commission's (the Commission) Dispute Resolution and Support Services Branch (the Branch). The role leads a service delivery team that supports simple, fair and flexible workplace relations. Together with the Branch senior leadership team, the Director is collectively responsible for delivering client-centric service excellence, strong performance, innovation and continuous improvement across all Branch functions.

In a dynamic operating environment, the Director provides strategic advice and direction, translates strategy into operational goals, creates plans, exercises sound judgment and fosters productive relationships with diverse stakeholders to enhance contemporary practice in Tribunal services.

The Director leads a large national team to deliver proactive and efficient, client-centric early case management support for parties involved in individual employment related disputes and to set, monitor and support implementation of the performance strategy for the Branch.

The Director leads collaboration with other areas to build Branch data and reporting maturity and capability, draw insights, harness opportunities and actively manage risk. They provide regular reporting to the Executive Director, General Manager and the Commission's governance committees, as well as the Commission President and National Practice Leaders, where required.
The key duties of the position include:Support the Executive Director to drive Branch and Commission outcomes, including initiatives that contribute to the strategic and operational objectives within the Corporate and Branch Plans.Drive a collaborative, client-centric, high-performance culture and foster the team's understanding of the Branch's impact on the Commission's strategic and operational objectives.Lead a large multi-disciplinary team to achieve objectives, deliver excellent quality services and optimise outcomes for clients in an effective and efficient manner. This includes develop, monitor and support implementation of the Branch-wide performance strategy and deliver proactive case management in line with contemporary practice, to meet or exceed agreed service standards and performance measures, including timeliness.Provide strategic direction by establishing and communicating strategic and operational priorities, develop business plans, support digital transformation and implement innovation informed by high quality, client-centric service strategy and effectively manage change in a busy operational environment.Build and sustain productive and influential relationships with a diverse network of key internal and external stakeholders (including Commission Members, peers, team members and clients), to ensure high quality support and services are delivered, objectives are achieved, and future needs are addressed.Work collaboratively across the Branch to build and maintain team capability, and develop others to do so, through coaching and mentoring and implementing recruitment and resourcing strategy and the Branch capability framework.Work independently under broad direction, exercising sound judgment to manage complex and sensitive issues and escalations, solve problems and resolve conflict, develop and implement strategic solutions, engage positively with risk and embed risk management in planning, decision making and team management.Provide authoritative, practical and impartial advice and support to Commission Members, the General Manager, the Executive Director and the Commission's decision-making committees (Executive Management, Operational Performance and Major Investments committees).Actively participate as a member of Commission committees including Operational Performance Committee, Senior Management Group, Data Governance Group, and the Branch senior leadership team and contribute to the Commission's broader management and statutory responsibilities such as strategic planning, reporting, corporate, financial and risk management and provide input into key Commission and Branch publications.Uphold and promote an inclusive, healthy, and safe working environment, modelling and promoting ethical behaviour and practices consistent with the APS Code of Conduct and Values and Branch Values.Citizenship: The Fair Work Commission requires Australian citizenship as a condition of engagement.
