Position Title: Diocesan and Parish Support Accountant
Location: Catholic Chancery Office, Armidale
Position Objective The position of Diocesan and Parish Support Accountant provides services within the Diocesan and Parish Support Team at the Catholic Diocese of Armidale, in the form of accounting, administration and bookkeeping support and consulting in various areas.
The Diocesan and Parish Support Accountant will work within a small but dynamic team engaging with a variety of stakeholders. The role will support the optimal functioning of the financial reporting and associated obligations for Parishes across the Diocese as well as the Diocese itself.
Responsibilities The key areas of responsibility of the Diocesan and Parish Support Accountant are:
Accounting and bookkeeping functions, working with the Diocesan Financial Administrator and Manager of Executive Services (including regular coding and reconciling of accounts, BAS preparation, assisting with financial statement preparation, electronic filing of source documents) utilizing the Xero accounting programPrimary responsibility for management of the motor vehicle fleet of the DioceseAssist with management of shared inboxes and Diocesan and Parish Support Team communicationAssistance to the Diocesan and Parish Support Team in a variety of areas including helping when the maintenance and functions schedule necessitatesAny other special projects as directed from time to time, particularly relating to Microsoft Excel financial analysis and record management.Knowledge, Skills and Experience Preference for degree qualification in accountingSound working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Microsoft Excel (working knowledge of macros and pivot tables highly regarded)Experience with the Xero accounting program, working knowledge with other recognized programs Monthly accounts coding, bank reconciliation and BAS preparation experience (experience with NFP's highly regarded)Preference for someone with payroll processing experience Well-developed communication skills including careful consideration of email content, wording, grammar and how it is perceivedAbility to assist on financial projects and be innovative in approach to process improvementsTime and priority task management and available to work standard business hours.Attributes A demonstrated commitment to understand, embrace and give witness to the mission of the Catholic ChurchAbility to work collaboratively with high integrity and manage a variety of relationshipsAbility to accept and give feedbackAbility to work autonomously and as part of a team, respectful and conscious of other team membersProfessional manner and presentationAbility to operate with confidentiality and discretionConscientious with attention to detailPossessing a consultative approach and ability to adapt to different situationsA client-focused approach.This role can be tailored to suit:
