THE ROLE The Design Manager will act as the Primary Engineering Representative and a multi-disciplinary design leader, overseeing technical teams to deliver consistent, value-for-money, accurate and timely technical information and outputs.
The role emphasises leadership presence, driving minimum viable solutions using lean principles and challenging stakeholders, including subject matter experts within Engineering, to achieve optimal delivery and efficiency.

Contribute to WHS Performance: Play a vital role in achieving industry-leading Work Health and Safety (WHS) performance across the corporation.
Compliance with Safety Standards: Adhere to Safety in Design (SID) and Sustainability in Design (Sui D) processes, eliminating or minimizing health and safety risks throughout the asset lifecycle.
Safety Leadership: Model the safety behaviors and culture defined by the Engineering Safety Framework, demonstrating your commitment to a safe working environment.
Engineering Capability Lead Technical Teams: Act as a multi-disciplinary design manager, guiding teams to deliver consistent, value-for-money, accurate, and timely technical outputs.
Plan for Success: Create and execute effective design delivery plans, ensuring alignment with business needs including water quality and stakeholder relations.
Quality Assurance: Oversee the quality of deliverables, ensuring compliance with Technical Standards through rigorous review and verification mechanisms.
Manage Expectations: Clearly communicate project milestones and expectations to design teams, stakeholders, and managers, measuring and reporting on time and cost variations.
Customer Service Develop Accurate Scopes: Collaborate with Engineering Delivery, Studies, and Solutions teams to create precise scopes of work and timely cost breakdown structures for multi-disciplinary projects.
Achieve Project Budgets: Ensure Service Agreement Form schedules and budgets are met for each project, aligning with the multi-disciplinary design process.
Timely Communication: Engage with clients, providing regular updates on project progress, costs, and robust change management processes.
People and Culture Personal Development: Work closely with the Manager Engineering Delivery to create a personal development plan with clear milestones and measurable outcomes.
Build Strong Relationships: Foster effective communication and collaboration with Engineering teams and key stakeholders to optimize design solutions and project outcomes.
Promote Knowledge Sharing: Support a culture of knowledge sharing across the corporation and participate actively in team meetings and one-on-one discussions.
Technical Standards/Innovation Ensure Compliance: Guarantee that all designs and advice adhere to necessary standards and guidelines.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Assist in the development and enhancement of multi-disciplinary and engineering services design processes and documentation.
Innovate: Coordinate with subject matter experts to assess and adopt new and emerging technologies in multi-disciplinary projects, maximizing benefits.
ABOUT YOU Professional Qualification: A professional engineering qualification (e.g., B.
Eng) in a relevant discipline.
Engineering Experience: Experience in engineering design, design review, and development of infrastructure standards, with strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
Leadership Presence: Ability to inspire and lead teams, driving high performance in challenging business environments.
Strategic Thinking: Strong planning skills with the capability to develop and implement effective design delivery strategies.
Stakeholder Management: Excellent interpersonal skills to influence and challenge stakeholders for optimal outcomes.
Innovation: Ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance design efficiency and project delivery.
Technical Writing: Experience in preparing professional reports and technical documentation.
