Our design process fully considers the installation and maintenance practicalities on site.Due to the continued evolvement and expansion of our lead design consulting team, we are looking to recruit a Design Manager in each of our UK offices to lead the project, financial, QA/QC, and technical management and delivery of our multi-disciplinary projects. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with our technical experts and design partners. This role is key to our overall business ambition to be recognised by our clients as the best in the data centre market.Reporting to our Regional Lead Design Manager and working closely with our technical colleagues, this role will be responsible for managing projects to deliver an excellent service to clients and assisting on the ongoing development and growth of the business as a whole, whilst providing sound technical, design, and contract management support.We're looking for an enthusiastic, driven, and dynamic Design Manager to deliver on our client-first approach and support our engineering teams and design partners to deliver superior quality designs. Contributes to the development and growth of the company by identifying new opportunities and potential areas for growth, and also maintaining and developing existing client relationshipsLeads, mentors, manages the multi-disciplinary design team to ensure successful preparation and delivery on project and business goalsDevelops, manages, monitors, and maintains project requirements, processes, records, and reportsManages, reports, and reviews project timelines, costs, program, quality, and performanceManages risk and performance monitoring, identifying and addressing performance issuesCollaborates with the design team and manages multiple workstreams to ensure quality and timely operation delivery for clientsActs as the lead project design manager and liaises with the client and external design team as necessary for the successful delivery of projectsManages client stakeholder relationships across the projectsIdentifies and manages change to design scope and scheduling changes in accordance with the change control process, maintaining planning and cost control including design fee changesManages, monitors, and takes responsibility for the profit and lossCoordinates monthly financial reports, both internal management accounts and external applications for paymentNegotiates positive outcomes, resource planning, providing motivation and management to virtual design teams working in multiple time zonesQualifications
A relevant degree in engineering, or equivalent qualification or sufficient suitable experienceAbility to demonstrate extensive experience in project management within MEP engineering, managing project deliverables and costsStrong client, contractor, partner, and supplier relationship managementThorough understanding of the end-to-end design processUnderstanding of design process and MEP engineering, with data centre experienceSound level of knowledge at the senior engineer level, managing multi-disciplinary teamsDesirable experience in data centre projects, or other critical engineering facilitiesExperience of complementary specialisms such as architecture, structures, civils, security, and permitsAssociate or student member of an appropriate professional body, such as MCIBSE, MIET, IMechEAchieved or working towards Chartered Engineer statusClient-focussed with exceptional relationship management experienceResults-oriented individual with strong problem-solving, technical realisation, and reporting skillsExcellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills, both verbal and writtenComputer literacy which includes Microsoft Projects, records management programme software, PageTurn, and Microsoft OfficeSound knowledge of current health and safety issues and legislationOur Values
