Our Opportunity:
Opportunities now exist for experienced Mechanical, Chemical, and Process Engineers with experience in water and/or wastewater municipal plant design. These include the design of transfer pump stations, MBR wastewater treatment plants, desalination plants, chemical dosing systems, and upgrades to existing treatment plants. Supporting Design Managers, this role will suit highly motivated individuals who will be responsible for carrying out end-to-end design activities which include calculations, modelling, pump and equipment selections, datasheet documentation, and report writing to capture the engineering for projects. Your technical competence and ability to work both independently and in a team environment to design, coordinate drafting, and document in a timely manner adhering to budgets will allow you to successfully contribute to the delivery of a diverse range of exciting water infrastructure projects across Australia.
As a Design Engineer at GO you will also:
Work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders across Australia, leveraging your superior communication and negotiation skills to meet strict project and Client objectives. Partner with design drafters, design managers, and project managers to ensure designs are completed on time and within budget. Complete engineering designs that meet the requirements of Client and project specifications including relevant standards and legislation. Utilise your experience in risk management to produce engineering designs that meet project quality, safety, and environmental requirements through implementing techniques including Safety in Design (SID), HAZOP, CHAZOP, CHAIR, and incorporating appropriate preventative and mitigative measures into designs. Support construction and commissioning teams to secure project continuity and successful project delivery through development of commissioning documentation and day-to-day ad hoc support. To be successful in this role you will have:
Hands-on design experience on water and/or wastewater Infrastructure projects – highly desirable. Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical/Chemical/Process engineering (or aligned discipline). Chartered Engineering status, or the ability to obtain Chartered status within Australia. An ability to effectively lead, manage and influence teams of people from diverse backgrounds. Exemplary verbal and written communication skills, with experience in working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Extensive experience in developing and reviewing engineering drawings, calculations, and documentation. Experience in SID, HAZOP, CHAZOP, CHAIR, and risk assessment workshops. Proven facilitation experience of these workshops is highly beneficial. Proven ability to document complex engineering information into clear, concise, and accurate documentation including basis of designs, control philosophies, design methodologies, and scopes of work. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite including SharePoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel. Exposure to various modelling and analysis software packages including SpaceGass, BioWin, WaterGEMS is beneficial but not essential. Construction industry experience in Australia is desirable. Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities to meet strict project deadlines. Have an affinity for our Guiding Principles of Care, Integrity, Passion, Respect, and Future.
