This is for a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025Hedland Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a passionate and progressive Deputy Principal – Student Wellbeing and Support (DP - SWS) to join our Executive team.Hedland SHS, located in the Pilbara, is an Independent Public-School catering for students from Year 7 to Year 12.

Another key aspect of the Student Support portfolio will be leading attendance practices and processes leading to improvement.
The DP - SWS develops, reviews and refines school policy and guidelines that govern all aspects of student wellbeing and support in collaboration with the school executive and senior leadership teams.
They ensure quality case management through working collaboratively with the Program Coordinators – Student Support (PC-SS) and Student Support Coordinator to embed whole school student well-being initiatives and the implementation of our new GEL (Grow, Empower, Learn) program to form a positive learning environment and well-being initiatives, where every student is well known.The DP - SWS uses their exceptional influence and evidence-based decision-making ensuring Program Coordinators lead whole school student wellbeing initiatives as they oversee the operational management of our Student Support Centre.
The DP - SWS oversees complex cases and whole school case management working collaboratively with the onsite allied support team, external agencies and wider school staff and community to promote the wellbeing of each student.
They lead the school in maintaining a positive learning environment where each student's physical, social, intellectual, and emotional development is fostered.In collaboration with all staff and key stakeholders within the community, you will ensure staff are working proactively to promote a sense of belonging for all students, working restoratively to solve conflict, and engaging students, caregivers and staff in participative decision-making, resulting in improved community relationships and whole school regular attendance.While the position we are initially seeking to fill is primarily for the portfolio of Student Wellbeing and Support, there may be later movement in the team to meet future needs and build upon leadership skills and expertise.
