Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/DP894495 This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2024 Perth Modern School is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Deputy Principal to join their high performing school. The Deputy Principal will hold an Executive role in the state's leading Public School, Western Australia's only fully academically selective school for gifted students in Year 7 to Year 12, helping to build a culture of high expectations that takes account of the richness and diversity of the wider school community.
The focus of the role is the Strategic Leadership of Systems and Operations. The successful applicant will ideally embed effective decision-making processes that underpin a cohesive leadership team. They should make the best use of technology to record, analyse and share information, to monitor progress against goals and support new ways of working. Key responsibilities may include the school's management system Compass, the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN), Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) testing, Reporting to Parents, timetable management, examinations, reports, data analysis and interpretation, camps, excursions, incursions, interstate and international tours. The successful applicant would lead the selection, management, recruitment and performance of casual relief teachers.
The Deputy Principal encourages staff and the community to share ownership of the school's vision and values. The successful candidate will ideally have exceptional strategic leadership, interpersonal, organisational, change management and respectful communication skills in both verbal and written form. They will ideally build and maintain collaborative and respectful partnerships across the school and wider community. The successful applicant would lead progressive and enthusiastic teams of teachers who are engaged in implementing a whole school gifted and talented approach as a lead school for the Department's Quality Teaching Strategy, Teaching for Impact.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings; High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes; Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
