With offices in over 100 countries, the business is experiencing high growth across APAC and a unique opportunity has opened for a Senior Construction and Projects Lawyer to join the Leadership Team as Deputy General Counsel and manage disputes, arbitration and litigation matters for the business.Global leader in the construction industryHigh performing and award-winning legal teamMajor construction and sustainable infrastructure projectsThis is an outstanding opportunity for a talented Senior Lawyer from a top-tier law firm and/or a high performance, in-house construction team, to make a significant career move.
The successful candidate will report directly to General Counsel and advise on major projects as part of a values-led organisation within a supportive and inclusive culture.
Support the business as a skilled negotiator with a deep knowledge of disputes and arbitration gained from the major infrastructure and projects sector.ResponsibilitiesLead national dispute negotiations and claims managementManage a range of complex contentious matters and significant domestic and regional client relationshipsManage large professional indemnity claims and to a lesser extent public liabilityOversee Security of Payments (SOPA) for the business and maintain regulatory and legislative complianceAdvise clients on complex litigation and contractual, regulatory and legislative issuesProvide high-level strategic advice on dispute avoidance and risk managementBe part of a collaborative Global Legal Team and play a pivotal role in a growing global businessThe Successful CandidateA minimum of 8 years PQE from either a dedicated projects team in private practice and/or a leading in-house team within the engineering, construction and infrastructure sectorsExperience gained from a top-tier law firm and strong knowledge of professional indemnity insurance in the construction sectorProven ability to handle complex legal issues with business-focused solutions, coupled with strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skillsStrong knowledge of Security of Payments Act (SOPA)Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including client representatives, engineers, and external counselSolutions-focused and strategic approach is essentialA senior lawyer who can work both autonomously and collaboratively to deliver effective results for the business
