About the Role The Departmental Liaison Officer provides high-level support to the Minister, Minister's Office, the Secretary and the Department, acting as a conduit for the efficient channelling of complex information and advice as well as the coordination of Ministerial Briefings, Correspondence, Cabinet Matters and Parliamentary Business.
The Departmental Liaison Officer works with limited supervision and plays a key role in managing and coordinating the administrative and communication requirements and protocols between the Minister's office and the Department, including the monitoring and tracking of departmental responses to ministerial office requests. The position has a key quality assurance role with regards to briefings, correspondence and other documentation, ensuring that they are consistent with applicable protocols and standards.
Your outcomes and accountabilities Facilitate strong working relationships between the Minister's office and the Department and other ministerial offices, as required, by ensuring a smooth flow of information and complex advice.Manage and coordinate administrative and communication requirements and protocols between the Minister's office and the Department, including the monitoring and tracking of departmental responses to ministerial office requests.Provide final quality assurance for briefings, correspondence and other documentation from the Department including consistency with applicable protocols.Assist and advise the Secretary, senior departmental officers and ministerial staff on relevant administrative and other matters, encouraging the Department's responsiveness to the operational requirements of the Minister.Contribute to a positive team culture and provide assistance to the broader DLO team and across the Governance and Portfolio Services Branch as required.Liaise effectively across the DLO/BSO network, and with staff at all levels in the group and the Department as a whole.Provide support across the Governance & Portfolio Services Division as required.Key Selection Criteria You will be expected to facilitate strong working relationships between the Minister's office, the Department, and other ministerial offices by ensuring the smooth flow of complex information and advice. Managing and coordinating administrative and communication protocols between these offices, including tracking departmental responses to ministerial requests, is essential.
You'll provide final quality assurance for briefings, correspondence, and other documentation, ensuring consistency with applicable protocols. Additionally, you'll assist and advise the Secretary, senior officers, and ministerial staff on administrative matters, promoting the Department's responsiveness to the Minister's operational needs.
Contributing to a positive team culture and supporting the broader DLO team and Governance and Portfolio Services Branch is important. You'll also be expected to liaise effectively across the DLO/BSO network and with staff at all levels of the Department, while providing support across the Governance & Portfolio Services Division as needed.
Qualifications and Experience Knowledge of or familiarity with the Transport and Planning Sector policy environment.Experience in the use of Microsoft Office 365 and Government eBriefings system (or similar).Role Specific Requirement May be required to be on stand-by outside their ordinary hours of duty to perform work.
