About the role: The Curriculum Policy and Standards directorate, within the Curriculum and Learning Division, provides curriculum and assessment policy as well as literacy, numeracy, English as an Additional Language (EALD) or Dialect and Aboriginal Languages advice and resources for teachers and leaders that empower children and young people to learn and thrive.
The Assistant Director, Literacy and Numeracy Policy leads the development of evidence informed policy advice to the system and schools regarding a range of curriculum areas, including teaching and assessment of reading, literacy and numeracy resources, English as an additional language or dialect (EALD) and Aboriginal languages.
The Assistant Director, Literacy and Numeracy Policy provides informed policy advice to the Director, Executive Director, Chief Executive and Minister, regarding South Australia's contribution to national literacy and numeracy initiatives and works collaboratively with peers across the division and broader department to achieve curriculum outcomes for children and young people.
The Assistant Director, Literacy and Numeracy Policy ensures that literacy and numeracy policies align with and activate the Department's strategies and policies including "Our Strategy" and the Aboriginal Education Strategy.
Essential qualifications and competencies: An appropriate tertiary qualification in an education related field including post-graduate qualifications in an appropriate discipline and desirable or relevant experience. Experience leading in a large and complex organisation at an executive level, ensuring the translation of priorities into executed deliverables.
