This is an exciting opportunity for a Dementia Support Assistant to join the Eldercare team.
The Dementia Support Assistant provides individualized one-on-one support and engagement to residents living with dementia in Eldercare Memory Support Units.
This role will work closely with the site based leadership team with best practice and professional support provided by Clinical Nurse Consultant – Dementia, to provide high-quality care and support to residents.
Provide individualised care and support to residents living with dementia, including assistance with emotional support.
Engage residents with meaningful activities that are aligned with their background and interests, and which generate comfort, familiarity and positive emotion.
Create a safe and supportive environment for residents, promoting independence, dignity and optimal wellbeing.
Foster a calm and reassuring environment, responding empathetically to residents' emotional needs.
To be successful in this role, you will: Possess a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or Aged Care – or equivalent.
A Certificate IV in health and leisure is desirable (but not required).
Minimum 6 months experience in Aged Care.
Experienced in participating and arranging recreational or leisure pursuits.
Specific experience in working with Older People, an advantage if dementia specific.
Be passionate about enhancing the wellbeing of our residents.
Be enthusiastic and motivated, showing a willingness to learn.
Have great time management and organisational skills.
The ability to think with initiative.
Be able to interact positively with residents and their families.

To work for Eldercare, you are required to have a police clearance valid for working in aged care and the clearance needs to be less than 12 months since date of issue.
