The Southport School (TSS) is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding school for boys situated on the banks of the Nerang River in the heart of the Gold Coast.
The Southport School has been established for over 120 years and is committed to providing a holistic education for boys focused on excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care and extra-curricular endeavours within a balanced Christian environment.

Following the recent promotion of the Dean of Students (Years 10-12), we are seeking a new Dean of Students to guide our students from January 2025.

The Dean role at TSS is responsible for the leadership and management of all aspects associated with student pastoral care for Years 10-12, forging strategies that nurture the wellbeing, integrated development, and restorative interventions for boys and young men.
Additionally, this role will provide leadership to the Student Services team and guide and nurture the Year 12 cohort through their final year of school.

It is envisaged that the successful candidate will:
Actively support and model our Anglican Christian Ethos and enthusiastically participate as a member of a school community in the GPS tradition.
Possess a vision for the pastoral care and wellbeing health of boys and young men in a day and boarding environment.
Have a proven ability and experience in providing timely and effective responses to complex students' pastoral care and behavioural needs.
Have strong working knowledge of, and demonstrated experience in the implementation of restorative justice practices.
Demonstrated ability and experience in building and nurturing student/parent/school partnerships for the benefit of the student.
Have a proven ability to lead and support a team and to enable others in the effective development of and responses to individual and group needs.
Have extensive knowledge and application in boys' education and adolescent male development.
Ideally have experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and covering a diversity of educational needs - academic, cultural, boarding.
Understand and have knowledge of the principles of positive psychology and experience in the integration and application of leadership principles, emotional intelligence, thinking skills, and responsible thinking approaches.
Candidates must have:
Bachelor of Education, preferably a 'Masters' level education-based qualification.
Comprehensive knowledge of student protection policy and reporting procedures.
Leadership experience in a day and boarding school setting.
Mental health first aid or similar qualification.
Successful candidates will be willing to support the Code of Conduct and the stated values and Christian Ethos of the School.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate professional boundaries and standards when working with children and young people.
Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a working with children BlueCard and may be asked to provide a recent Police check certificate.
