Who are we? Deakin is a cutting-edge public university in Victoria, revolutionising education with 61,000 students across five campuses. These positions work in our amazing People Services division. People Services are the operational arm of the People Function, comprising of 3 dedicated teams (People Operations, Recruitment Services, and Payroll). We provide the first point of contact for HR services to staff at Deakin, including resolving general Human Resources (HR) queries, payroll administration, end-to-end recruitment coordination, and maintaining our People system, DeakinPeople. Sitting within the Customer Experience Service Hub, the People Services team partners with People and Culture to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service that is reliable and trustworthy.
As a Senior Adviser, you will: Provide expert HR advice and guidance to clients in the interpretation and application of the Deakin Enterprise Agreement and Deakin Policies and Procedures. Manage end-to-end employee life cycle matters effectively. Ensure accurate data input into the HR management system. Provide ethical and timely advice to clients that address underlying issues, promoting value-adding insights and recommendations. Communicate with confidence using examples and appropriate influencing techniques to increase understanding and support. Contribute to the implementation of practical solutions based on stakeholder needs. Collaborate with teams within People Service and the wider University. To be successful, you'll have: A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and specialist knowledge in HR fields. Experience in a large HR shared services environment, preferably in the higher education sector. Experience using a complex HR system; PeopleSoft preferred.
