Details of the offer

Also known as: Database analyst, Information systems manager, Business intelligence, Data warehousing, Data architect, Data engineer
Is this role right for you? You'll enjoy thinking critically about how and why data is saved, stored, and sorted. You will need to have strong attention to detail and plan your work carefully to avoid mistakes. You'll also be curious by nature, and enjoy investigating data to find patterns and insights.
What are some example projects or experiences? As the availability and use of data increases, database administrators play an important role in rail organisations. They may help to design, develop, and maintain a database system used in a design, engineering, or manufacturing firm. Or, they could work for a public rail organisation supporting internal systems. Today's database administrators understand on-premise and cloud technologies. They keep a close eye on the health and performance of the data environment, and act quickly to address issues. They may also perform backups, conduct training for users, develop documentation, and set safeguards to control access to data.
What is the work environment like? You'll work in an office with a team of engineers, business analysts, and IT professionals. You'll use specialised data tools to create and manage data assets to support business operations. You can find work as a database administrator all around Australia. Most jobs are in cities and towns.
Database administrators typically require qualifications in information technology, computer science, or database design. Experience with relevant tools and technologies is highly regarded. Our industry values diverse personal and work experience. Many employers can provide you with opportunities to gain new qualifications and industry experience to help you succeed.
Salaries may vary outside of these ranges, based on company size and location, level of experience, competence and time in role.
