The Border Express Albury or Melbourne branches currently have an opportunity available for a Database Administrator looking to join our development team.
Reporting to our Database Services Manager, our ideal candidate should have proven technical skills with 1 to 3 years' experience in SQL database design, security configuration, implementation, administration, maintenance and query performance optimisation.
Duties:
Able to configure, upgrade, maintain and monitor the Border Express SQL Server/reporting environment ensuring high levels of performance, availability, and security. An ability to develop and perform capacity planning, monitoring, archiving and database management in line with Border Express's current and future storage demands. Continuously review and perform ongoing SQL maintenance including backups, consistency checks, DR, security, and index maintenance against best practice processes. Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours. Configuring and maintaining proactive alerting for database/systems issues with the aim to automatically alert the technology team to any critical database issues. Creating and configuring SQL databases and database functions with a view to optimise performance. Designing, implementing, and managing data replication activities. Producing and maintaining documentation, including data standards, procedures, troubleshooting guides and definitions for a data dictionary. Collaborate with cross-functional team members to support application development, server maintenance and incident resolution. Skills and Experience:
1 to 3 years of recent experience in a Database Administrator or similar role. Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent qualifications. Proven experience with SQL Server database configuration, monitoring, storage management, indexing/query execution optimization and SQL replication. Experience in an enterprise cluster environment is an advantage. Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies and familiarity with database monitoring tools. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and grasp new concepts rapidly. Get to know Border Express:
