Job Description The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing databases to ensure their reliability, performance, and security. This role involves managing database configurations, software installations, upgrades, and ensuring adherence to database standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in IBM Mainframe environments, including managing database performance, forecasting resource needs, and automating database administration processes to improve efficiency.
As a Database Administrator (DBA), you will develop and maintain database procedures and documentation, ensuring adherence to internal standards. You will be responsible for managing database configurations, including installing and upgrading software, and ensuring high availability through effective backup and recovery processes. Monitoring database activity and resource usage will be a key part of your role, as well as optimizing performance through query tuning, indexing, and configuration adjustments.
Security and data integrity are paramount, and you will implement security measures to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will evaluate and integrate appropriate database administration tools, automating processes to improve operational efficiency. You will forecast future database resource needs and plan for scalability based on usage trends.
Finally, you will contribute to setting database design, security, and integrity standards, ensuring alignment with best practices and organizational goals while maintaining the overall health and performance of the database systems.
Qualifications Proven experience as a Database Administrator, preferably with expertise in IBM Mainframe environments.Strong knowledge of database management systems such as DB2, Oracle, or other relational databases.Experience in database performance tuning, query optimization, and resource management.Familiarity with automation tools for database administration and process improvement.Understanding of database security, backup, and recovery procedures.Ability to create and maintain database documentation and procedures.
