Your opportunity: Our Digital & Information group have an exciting permanent opportunity for an experienced Database Administrator to join their team!
Digital & Information is responsible for driving the Urban Utilities' digital vision in partnership with the Urban Utilities business and includes information, communication, and technology (ICT) environment, ICT strategy, as well as the investment, business engagement, innovation, and delivery of the existing ICT function.
The Database Administrator (DBA) works within a team of DBAs to ensure the health of Urban Utilities' hosted Oracle and SQL database environments.
Their focus will be on driving a culture of excellent customer service and providing advisory services.
Along with managing the stability and performance of our database environments, the DBA will contribute to and support the future direction of our database environments, while aligning with current and emerging industry best practises.
The DBA drives a culture of continual improvement, focusing on such areas as automation, reporting, tool deployment as well as delivery and implementation of governance best practises to optimise database services to internal and external customers, suppliers, and support teams.
The DBA is an excellent communicator, capability of building relationships at all levels, including outsourced technology service suppliers who support the Lead where required.
About you: Relevant tertiary/post-graduate qualifications and technical database certifications (e.g., Azure DBA, OCP, MCSA).
Demonstrated practical database administration in large, heterogeneous environments (Azure, Windows Server, Linux, VMware, Veeam).
Experience in platform operations monitoring (e.g., SolarWinds) and incident management.
Automation and scripting skills (PowerShell, T-SQL, PL/SQL, Bash, Puppet).
Proficiency with Oracle and SQL Server database management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify business requirements and provide solutions.
Effective communication skills to engage with internal/external stakeholders and influence change.
Ability to prioritize workload across projects and BAU tasks while ensuring quality service delivery.
Experience with Azure SQL and MySQL is beneficial.
Ability to participate in an on-call support rotational roster At UU, we celebrate diversity.
