As a Data Scientist at Suncorp, you will work on complex and varied Data Science and AI projects that deliver substantial business value. You will report into one of our Principal Data Scientists and be supported in your developing your skills and experience as top AI practitioner. You will have access to market leading AI and GenAI tools and models and Suncorp's extensive data assets. You will work with business leaders in a collaborative way to develop these solutions. Suncorp places great importance on leveraging its data to enhance business performance, with the Data Science & AI Centre of Excellence dedicated to optimizing the value that our Group extracts from its investment in data and AI. This involves fostering robust business relationships, offering strategic counsel, and championing the development of Data Science & AI initiatives, both those we build internally and through external collaborations. What you'll do Develop data science models and algorithms, working on technically complex AI projects with significant business impact. Be involved in a range of modes of activity spanning from AI innovation and prototyping through to deploying fully integrated, scaled data science assets in core business processes. Be a part of our evolution of Suncorp's Data Science & AI ecosystem. Contribute to best practices and thought leadership within the Data Science & AI Community of Practice.  What you'll bring 2+ years of experience in Data Science, AI, or related fields is required. Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., data science, machine learning, statistics, actuarial, engineering, mathematics) is mandatory. A practical focus on using your technical skills to generate tangible business value. A can-do attitude to 'getting things done' that deliver value. A proactive mindset that takes the initiative to move things forward. Experience in developing and implementing Data Science or AI models is mandatory, with experience working on Databricks being highly valued. Knowledge of Generative AI and experience in developing proof-of-concepts or building prototypes using GenAI is desirable. Proficiency in relevant data science programming languages is mandatory. Ability to discern current and emerging best practices, differentiating hype from efficacy. Commitment to team and Suncorp Data Science & AI community success Proficiency in holistic data science solution design, integrating technical expertise with innovative approaches. Skill in solving analytical challenges without prior patterns. Knowledge and practical experience in applying advanced analytics, Data Science or AI solutions for Financial Services is highly valued.
