The Australasian Health Outcomes Consortium (AHOC) is a research consortium within the Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health (SMAH) which aims to improve outcomes for patients through benchmarking of care and treatment and supporting service improvement. AHOC generates robust evidence through its provision of clinical quality registries in rehabilitation, pain and palliative care.
The Palliative Aged Care Outcomes Program (PACOP) is dedicated to improving the outcomes of all Australians in aged care homes, particularly those who are approaching end of life. Residential aged care is often a person's final place of residence, with approximately 65,000 people in residential aged care homes dying each year. The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality & Safety identified the need to improve the quality of care for residents who are dying in aged care homes.
PACOP helps aged care homes and organisations to identify, understand and address the palliative care needs of their residents by embedding standardised outcomes assessments and tools. Reporting of residents' outcomes and benchmarking supports a systematic methodology for quality improvement.
Role Responsibilities
In this role you will primarily work within PACOP and be responsible for:

Data management
Analysis and reporting of a recently established national resident, family and carer outcomes dataset
Leading activities of the PACOP data team, who maintain and develop the PACOP dataset and outputs through quality improvement, methodological innovation, and technological change

A relevant degree with a strong mathematical/statistical component, preferably at postgraduate level (relevant industry experience may be deemed equivalent to a postgraduate qualification)
Demonstrated experience in data management, project management, and data analysis and modelling with large datasets using SAS and R (three years' experience in one, and willingness to further develop skills in the other)
Experience with automated workflows, such as integrating statistical results into other environments
A broad understanding of the Australian health and/or aged care systems will be highly regarded
