They are responsible for overseeing and implementing safeguards to ensure the protection of critical data assets in accordance with the obligations, policies, standards and business rules. By overseeing the effective use of data across digital health solutions, this role directly supports enhanced decision-making and operational efficiency, contributing to the realisation of connected and improved digital health experiences for all. The efforts of the Data Governance Specialist will help support the data governance framework that empowers Telstra Health to leverage data effectively in delivering high-quality healthcare solutions.About the role:Data GovernanceApplying mathematics, statistics, data mining and predictive modelling techniques to gain insights, predict behaviours and generate value from data, the Data Governance Specialist will:Support the implementation of data governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.Assist in maintaining data quality standards, including data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across systems.Define, oversee, and audit the standards, policies and processes on compliance and adherence to the data governance framework.Monitor data usage and access, ensuring adherence to data security and privacy policies.Participate in the identification and resolution of data quality issues, coordinating with relevant teams to ensure timely solutions.Assist in documenting and maintaining data governance processes, including data stewardship and classification frameworks.Collaboration and Team SupportSupporting the upskilling of data-related capabilities across team members, the Data Governance Specialist has responsibility for:Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data governance policies are understood and applied consistently.Supporting the development of data governance training materials to increase awareness and understanding among stakeholders.Quality Assurance, Risk Management and Continuous ImprovementCritical to the data governance process, the Data Governance Specialist will participate in and coordinate activities specific to:Planning and implementing organisation-wide processes and procedures for the management of risk to the success or integrity of the enterprise.Developing, implementing and testing a business continuity framework.Conducting regular audits of data governance practices to ensure ongoing compliance and identify areas for improvement.Tracking and reporting on data governance metrics, providing insights to senior management on data quality and policy adherence.Staying up to date with changes in data governance regulations and industry best practices, ensuring alignment with evolving standards.About you:Minimum of 2 years' experience in Data Governance.Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Health Information Management, Actuary, Data Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialised qualifications in data management or governance.Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), CHIA or other data governance and management certifications are highly desirable.Training in health information management, data governance frameworks and methodologies (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK) and data governance tools and platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica) is desirable.Experience in implementing and managing data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements in health settings.Hands-on experience with data management practices, including data stewardship, data quality management, and metadata management. Familiarity with data governance tools and technologies in health settings.Knowledge of relevant data protection regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and their application in data governance practices. Experience in ensuring organisational compliance with these regulations in health settings.Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess data quality, identify data issues, and provide actionable recommendations for improvement. Experience in data analysis and reporting.Experience working with various stakeholders, including data owners, data stewards, and business units, to establish and maintain data governance practices.
