Services Australia (the agency) Data Engineer and Technical Information & Knowledge Officers design and implement complex data flows to connect operational systems and data for analytics and business intelligence systems, whilst ensuring data security and governance. They play an important role in resolving and managing issues that impact on performance and/or service.
Data Engineer and Technical Information & Knowledge Officers develop and manage key strategic relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure business outcomes. They exercise a considerable degree of independence and undertake a leadership role, with work performed under the general guidance of senior staff. They drive innovation, changes in workplace practices and organise work in the context of competing priorities and strategic direction. They may be responsible for, and/or contribute to management of a team.
Data Engineer and Technical Information & Knowledge Officers are responsible for key strategic projects or functions and provide strategic advice based on extensive analysis of data and information aimed to support decision making across the agency. They are responsible for the collection and examination of information, and contributing to the work area's reports, findings, decision making or recommendations using an evidence-based approach. They use an investigative approach to implement solutions to complex matters and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policy and frameworks. They identify and implement best-practice approaches to data and analytics and engage in continuous improvement to ensure robust practices are embedded in their work.
Data Engineers lead individual projects as well as guide programs of work, demonstrate leadership skills, and have excellent technical skills. They build 'big data' technology solutions to support the analytical requirements and optimal performance of the agency's data ecosystem including data ingestion methods and ETL pipeline design.
Technical Information & Knowledge Management Officer Information Officers lead individual projects as well as guide programs of work, demonstrate leadership skills, and have excellent technical skills. They develop and/or manage ETL programs using SAS/SQL that transform and organise complex data according to agency needs, using or creating data models and business rules as needed to support our strategic objectives. They develop operational objectives and business rules by analysing business functions, gathering information and evaluating output requirements.
