Services Australia (the agency) makes government services simple so people can get on with their lives. Data Assistant Directors drive data governance, change management and project management using an evidence-based approach in the Data and Analytics Division. They get the opportunity to work with some of the Nation's largest datasets, solve complex problems and support agency strategy and decision making, which has a real impact on our customers.
Data and analytical staff are responsible for key strategic projects or functions, and provide advice based on extensive analysis of data and information to support decision making across the agency. They work with their teams to develop and implement solutions to complex matters and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policy and frameworks. Data Assistant Directors lead a program of work with a number of staff and deliver against various streams of work and projects concurrently. They have a sound understanding of the agency, its data platforms, its customers, and the business, to ensure they and their teams drive improved customer outcomes. They understand the strategic direction, establish standards, implement quality controls and provide oversight for data for both the agency and our partners who access and use our data. These roles are crucial in establishing robust data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures that safeguard the integrity, and ensure the appropriate use of our valuable data assets and our data platforms. Data Assistant Directors are integral in building the capability of others, have expertise in current platforms, tools, methods, frameworks, policies and technologies, and ensure they impart this knowledge to others.
EL1 Data ManagementEL Data Management officers are strategic leaders responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining data frameworks, policies, protocols and standards. They ensure adherence to these artefacts, and through the data community, they maximise data quality, data governance, and its effective and ethical use. Specialisations may include Data Steward and Knowledge Management professionals. Data Management officers possess strong leadership and communication skills, effectively managing teams to deliver on complex projects and programs of work.
EL1 Information GovernanceEL 1 Information Governance Officers play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective and responsible use of the agency's data. They are responsible for managing the planning, development, design, evaluation and implementation of information management practices. They foster strategic partnerships providing expert advice to optimise data use within adaptive guardrails. They have strong leadership and communication skills and manage teams to deliver on complex projects and programs of work.
