Azure Data Architect with data migration and data lake experience to work on a major project to replace current case management & data management solutions.
Job Title: Data Architect
Contract: Initial contract from 21/10/2024 to 05/05/2025
Working hours: 7.25 hours a day
Location: Brisbane CBD, flexible working arrangements on offer
Summary Our client is a department of the Queensland Government responsible for protecting the state's natural environment and developing the government's science strategy.
They have a range of digital initiatives positioned to improve the management and access of information/data, including the replacement of existing case management and data management solutions.
Main Responsibilities Lead the data workstream to support a replacement case management, digital asset management and data lake streams. Design and maintain data products such as data mappings and data transformation rules. Perform Data Modelling including Conceptual and Logical, also mapping to physical data structures. Develop and maintain data migration scripts and tools to ensure accurate and efficient data transfer. Validate data post-migration to ensure completeness and accuracy. Identify, troubleshoot and resolve data migration issues in a timely manner and present data analysis results and conclusions. Assist in departmental identification of suitable IT solutions and contribute to planned procurement activities. Interpret business and user requirements and provide advice on the application of the information systems solution to optimise local and enterprise-wide business outputs. Lead and consult with business representatives to gather relevant data to configure and implement future departmental IT solutions to meet the needs of all departmental and external stakeholders. Key competencies High level capability in developing project artefacts required for delivery across each phase of the project and data lifecycle, including creating, updating, and managing multiple interdependent data migration specifications, transformation rules and conversion activities. Expertise to identify key issues, perform research and analysis, and develop and document data solutions. Proven high level consultation, facilitation, and effective written and oral communication skills for use in a complex environment. Ability to communicate effectively with production, managerial, and executive teams. Ability to evaluate, analyse, and communicate data requirements on a continuing basis and maintain systems processes. Ability to work independently to achieve required project goals and business outcomes. Qualifications & experience Minimum 5-10 years of recent experience working across data projects, including at least 2 years of experience in data architect and reconciling large data sets in data migration. Experience in Data Migration definition and execution. Relevant tertiary and industry recognised qualifications. Experience with analysis related to case management and data management, implementation and replacement. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights. Proven ability to work collaboratively across project and development team environments. Highly desirable technical skills and experience Familiarity with Azure cloud environments, including data lakes. Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly, aligning data migration with business objectives. Experience in data reconciliation or data assurance projects. Data profiling and cleansing of legacy data. Strong knowledge of data migration processes, ETL tools, and data modelling. Proficiency in SQL and database management.
