About the role As a part-time data analyst (3 days a week), you'll join a small collaborative team where you'll play a pivotal role in owning the end-to-end data quality assurance for our carbon accounting engine.
Ideally, you will have experience in carbon accounting and emission factors to take ownership of the quality and accuracy of our data sets. You will also enjoy researching and developing new features across our products to deliver value to our customers.

Management of Climate Zero's proprietary carbon accounting database maintaining a global set of emission factorsEnsuring the accuracy of all emission factors, data sets, and calculationsUpdating the database with the most recent emission factor data and continuously expanding to include new factorsEnsuring Climate Zero delivers enterprise-grade reporting adhering to a number of different reporting frameworksPerforming data modelling, analytics, and reportingWorking with product and software engineering teams to design and deliver new product featuresWorking with software engineering ahead of releases to perform quality assurance checks and testingDocumentation of Climate Zero's methodology and ensuring the product delivers audit-grade transparencyKeeping up to date with the latest data science methods globallyWhat we're looking for You are data-obsessed: You are meticulous and thrive when surrounded by numbers. You are willing to roll up your sleeves to work with unstructured and inconsistent data. Experience with SQL or computer programming a bonus, but not required.You are an avid problem-solver: To you, an Excel model is an exciting puzzle to solve. You have the ability to think outside the box when addressing challenges.You are a great communicator: You have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You want that too and are committed to the cause.Experience working with carbon data: Experience handling energy and carbon is ideal but not essential.Qualifications & experience 2+ years working in an analytical roleHighly proficient in Microsoft ExcelHands-on experience with data visualisation tools and conceptsOr some of the above with the following:
Education in environmental or sustainability scienceExperience working in carbon emissions accounting and reporting frameworks (voluntary or regulatory) such as the GHG Protocol Corporate, Scope 2 and Scope 3 Supply Chain Standards.Understanding of the corporate climate accounting and target-setting landscape, and the underlying science, its challenges and limitations.Location – Melbourne, Australia. It's preferred that the applicant is based in Melbourne where most of the team are, but we will consider applicants from other parts of Australia on a remote basis. We work a hybrid model and generally get together in the office 1-2 days per week. The rest of your time can be spent working from home (or the library or wherever you want).
