Dance Teacher

Details of the offer

The key purpose of this role is to enable students to flourish through the delivery of optimal teaching, learning and caring experience and to participate as an effective member of the Performing Arts faculty and broader School.
The successful incumbent will have the ability to teach Dance in the Senior School on a fixed term contract and capacity to also teach Dance in the Junior School and/or contribute to co-curricular Performing Arts projects as a Choreographer/Dance Director.
The incumbent is required to teach classes that accommodate mixed abilities, promote the objectives of pastoral care at St Michael's, and commit to co-curricular activities during the School year according to the co-curricular responsibilities structure.
This role will be a 12-month fixed term contract.
Whilst the load is full-time 1.0, the panel will also consider candidates interested in a part-time fraction of the position.

The successful applicant will: Be a qualified teacher and be able to demonstrate a suitable tertiary qualification in teaching and their methods.
Have experience teaching Dance from Year 7 – VCE.
Have experience and/or open to teaching Dance in the Junior years.
Have experience working as a choreographer in Musical Theatre and/or Contemporary Dance styles.
Be willing to be involved in all aspects of the School's program.
Possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and interact with both adults and students.
Have high level communication skills.
Be able to work independently but also as part of a dynamic, creative and collaborative team.
Demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to following the School's child safety expectations, principles and policies.
