Organisation: Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action Occupation: Agriculture/Primary Industry Reference: VG/50958889 A The Dairy Industry Development Officer will work within a multi-disciplinary team delivering regional and state-wide services to the agriculture sector to support economic growth, business resilience, climate adaptation and recovery from natural disasters.
The position will also be required to contribute to emergency response.
The position will play a key role in the design and delivery of targeted, relevant, and accessible practice change services (including digital) to farm businesses - with a particular focus on dairy - in collaboration with industry and service providers aligned to Agriculture Victoria priorities.
This includes services that assist farm businesses to adapt to climate change, modernise and innovate farming systems, and recover from natural disasters and industry downturns.
The position will contribute to evaluation, innovation and continuous improvement of our services and business operations, to improve outcomes and ways of working.
The successful applicant will have a commitment to collaboration and teamwork and will have strong networks in the agriculture sector and dairy industry, particularly in the Gippsland region.
The position requires a person who is innovative, adaptable and willing to flex workplans and approaches in response to changing priorities.
Accountabilities Provide high level technical input and innovation into the design and delivery of extension and adoption services relating to livestock production, on-farm emissions and climate adaptation, farm business resilience and farm production and profitability.
Maintain trusted and effective networks and relationships with key industry and regional stakeholders, to influence and gain support and collaboration in the design and delivery of services and collation of intelligence.
Provide high quality and accurate information, insights and advice to key internal and external stakeholders through excellent communication and technical knowledge.
Actively engage and participate as a constructive member of a multi-disciplinary team, maintaining cooperative and trusted working relationships, in pursuit of team goals.
Fostering a culture of inclusion, safety, excellence, responsiveness, and flexibility.
Deliver high-quality work on time and with a collegiate can-do attitude, providing high level monitoring, reporting and evaluation of the impact of services, while adhering to all departmental governance requirements.
Contribute to emergency response, agriculture recovery and business improvement priorities as required.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications A desired not essential tertiary degree in Science, Agricultural Science, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics or similar.

The work location for this position is flexible within Gippsland (Leongatha, Ellinbank or Maffra preferred) with hybrid work arrangements available.
