Cultural Heritage SpecialistWork. Are you passionate about native title and cultural heritage? Join Sunwater as Cultural Heritage Specialist, where you'll play a vital role in supporting our iconic Paradise Dam Improvement project. You will provide advice and hands-on support for the project and ensure compliance with the requirements of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 (Act) and duty of care guidelines to facilitate the development of long-term working relationships with First Nations People aligned with the intent of Sunwater's First Nations Commitment Statement.
As a Cultural Heritage Specialist at Sunwater, you will:
Provide specialist advice to Project Directors/Managers and alliance leadership to ensure Sunwater is delivering on its cultural heritage obligations and responsibilities using an approach aligned with the Act and Sunwater's First Nations Commitment Statement.Support the project, including owners and alliance teams, to identify key issues, risks and opportunities for engagement with Traditional Owners on matters of native title and cultural heritage and advise on appropriate strategies to manage risks and realise opportunities for all parties.Support inclusive and culturally appropriate engagement with Traditional Owner groups and relevant representative and community organisations to ensure transparency and alignment with Sunwater's First Nations Commitment Statement.We are seeking a talented individual who is passionate about working with and building strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to reach mutually supported outcomes. You will hold relevant tertiary qualifications or have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role. You will also bring:
Native title expertise: Experience with engagement and management of Native Title and Cultural Heritage matters, co-ordinating cultural heritage negotiations and cultural heritage survey assessments, ideally for complex infrastructure projects.Strategic vision: Participate in the development and implementation of terms as agreed with the relevant parties in the cultural heritage management plans/agreements, in collaboration with the project and Sunwater legal, property and stakeholder teams and work with the project team to coordinate cultural heritage inspections.Communication skills: Excellent communication skills with a knack for writing and presenting quality reports and findings to senior leadership, including the Board and executive leadership team.This role offers an array of attractive benefits including:
