Our CEO is retiring, and we are looking for a suitable person to take on the role. The successful candidate will use strong management skills and entrepreneurial experience to lead a small team to deliver outcomes for the Cullen Bay community.
The Cullen Bay Marina Management Corporation is a membership-based body that owns and manages the common waters of the Cullen Bay Marina, the lock, and parts of the commercial district. We are not only the top tier Darwin marina but also create and manage friendly welcoming spaces for overseas visitors and residents. We manage berth rentals, Cullen beach, the public ferry jetty, local and Territory government contracts, contracts with corporations, public areas of the residential estate and business areas, the gardens and public spaces, and create exciting events for visitors, businesses, and the residents of Cullen Bay.
The CEO reports to a community-elected management committee and provides leadership to 10 staff who ensure the smooth and safe running of Darwin's Cullen Bay Estate, the Marina, and the lock.
THE ROLE Remuneration: A total remuneration package commensurate with the skills and experiences will be offered.
Employment contract: Either a term or open-ended contract will be offered.
CEO Responsibilities Include: Design strategy and set goals in consultation with the Management Committee Lead a team to deliver outstanding customer service for all stakeholders Control and monitor expenditure and revenue budgets Support the Management Committee Ensure employees are motivated and productive Maintain strong and positive stakeholder relationships Identify and manage/mitigate risk Job Brief We are looking for a CEO to oversee all staff, budgets, and operations of the Cullen Bay Marina Management Corporation. CEO responsibilities include formulating overall strategy, managing people, and establishing policies for Committee approval. The implementation of the Corporation's new Master Plan will be a focus, as will a more entrepreneurial approach to revenue generation, including developing and proposing a comprehensive strategy to enhance the amenity and value to Cullen Bay residents and the community.
To be successful in this role, you should be a thoughtful leader and a confident decision-maker, helping our people develop and be productive while ensuring safety and strong stakeholder relationships. Ultimately, you will help the Corporation perform at a high level.
Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day operations Design strategy and set performance goals Maintain budgets and optimize expenses Set policies and processes Ensure employees work productively, safely, and develop professionally Oversee recruitment and training of new employees Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance Prepare regular reports for the Committee Ensure staff follow and maintain high health and safety standards Provide solutions to issues such as employee conflicts and other complaints Compliance with statutory requirements, funding agreements, and Corporation policies, particularly the Cullen Bay Marina Act, Regulations, and By Laws Prepare agenda papers and minutes of Committee Meetings Develop and maintain work health and safety plans Arrange and attend the Corporation's Annual General meeting Liaise with stakeholders and become a member of organisations such as the Activate Darwin Committee Maintain strong relationships with various Government agencies including Border Security, Quarantine, Customs, NT & Federal police, and various NT Government agencies Requirements Proven experience in senior leadership or similar executive role Experience in planning and budgeting Knowledge of business processes and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations, etc.) Proven experience working for/with a Board or management committee Strong analytical ability Outstanding organisational and leadership skills Problem-solving aptitude Knowledge of the marine industry An awareness of the political and social influences in the Northern Territory The successful candidate will possess the following personal qualities:
