About the Role:This Operational position is a company seconded role into Bechtel and works within a multi-disciplined CSU team that is responsible for the safe, reliable and optimised pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup and initial operations phase of Pluto Train 2.
Following handover to Woodside in 2026, it is intended that this role will transfer to a Woodside operations role involved in the operation and maintenance of the PT2 asset or support other Woodside project activities.
We are seeking an SIMOPS Coordinator to join the Pluto Train 2 project working on site in Karratha.
This role will initially be required until ~mid 2026 to support Operations Readiness deliverables.
This position will be a 2/2 roster for the project phase, with flexibility to support FIFO and residential based candidates.
Duties & Responsibilities:Assisting with facilitating the interfaces between departments as well as identification and resolution of any potential impact on other operations whilst ensuring that all organizations enforce the requirements of the SIMOPS procedure.The SIMOPS Coordinator shall be responsible for coordinating the Train 2 CSU daily operational activities internally and cascading potential SIMOPS risks identified in daily team meetings to their counterpart in Train 1 Operations (identify and mitigate SIMOPS risks) via agreed work practices (e.g.
ISSOW conflicts meeting) and representing CSU at IAP meetings.Examples of activities requiring SIMOPS coordination between CSU and existing Train 1 operations include (but are not limited to):Sending or receiving process streams across battery limits between Train 1 and Train 2, including all tie-ins to existing facility systems.Energization of power supplies from Train 1 to Train 2.Unit demonstration testing and performance guarantee testing.Trunkline cleanup activities.Domgas export activities, including management of export nominations.Informing Construction, CSU, and SPM Managers of any trends, deviations, and/or omissions which could potentially jeopardize worker safety, environment, or the Project.Following up on readiness of all planned SIMOPS activities and preparations including permit to work (ISSOW/Q4) and facilitating / assisting with risk evaluations, HAZIDs, JHAs, readiness checklists, and other hazard identification control processes (e.g.
developing effective work strategies to manage risk associated with chemical and physical hazards).Providing decisions for any disagreements or conflicts that arise regarding the safety or schedule of a proposed simultaneous operation or the continuation of an activity in progress.Reporting to the responsible Manager any trends or omissions which could potentially jeopardize the planning schedule, work areas, facilities, or Project.Skills & Experience:A recognised degree in an engineering discipline or 10yrs+ Operating plant with Leadership role experience.In-depth experience related to Process Safety, Construction, Commissioning and startup of industrial, process or utility facilities.LNG plant experience in operations and commissioning essential.Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent to gas plants.Strong oral and written communication skills.If you think you can do this job but don't meet all the criteria, that's OK!
