About the Role We are seeking a motivated and experienced Cruise Director to join our team at Journey Beyond Cruise Sydney. This is a full-time position with an immediate start. The Cruise Director is a hands-on role that would be perfect for hospitality professionals looking to lead a team in a premium dining space on a luxury vessel in Sydney Harbour.
Working to support the Vessel Master and Operations Manager, the Cruise Director plays a key role in achieving the company mission of providing our guests with outstanding customer service, quality products and an unparalleled experience. The ideal candidate will be passionate and proud of the food and service they deliver and be willing to go above and beyond for our guests. You will be a team player with a demonstrated positive "can-do" attitude and have the flexibility to work varied hours including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
As a Cruise Director your duties will involve the supervision and overseeing of the Food & Beverage and Customer Service. Specifically, your duties will include:
Customer Service – Lead by example to deliver exceptional guest experiences and consistent service. Recruitment, training & development of Cruise Attendants – Ensure adequate rostering for forecasted business levels, grow a high performing team, and demonstrate high levels of presentation and service standards. Adherence to Operational Procedures and WHS Requirements – Ensure staff adherence to policies and procedures, conduct of safety briefings, adhere to the vessel's Safety Management System (SMS) and meet ratio requirements of employee to guest volumes. Overseeing Daily Procedures – Check reservation system, rostering, develop table plans and manifests, check tickets while boarding, and manage headcount responsibilities. A standard working day shall consist of up to 12 working hours, within the hours of 07:00hrs and 00:00hrs. Shifts commence and finish at Jones Bay Wharf in Pyrmont.
The ideal candidate will have confident leadership skills, can think on their feet in a dynamic workplace and build a respectful rapport with work colleagues and guests. They will have a positive, happy attitude, be comfortable working on the water, have a background in preparing and serving food and be able to deliver exceptional customer service. Staff and Hospitality Management experience will also be highly favoured.
About You Minimum 2 years' experience working in a similar role NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Competency Card (essential) NSW Licensee Training (Highly regarded) Provide First Aid (essential) Food Safety Handling certificate (Not required, but an advantage) General Purpose Hand qualification (Not required, but an advantage) Intermediate computer skills Strong personal presentation skills Excellent customer service skills, dedication to meeting the expectations of all external and internal customers Excellent communication and interpersonal skills People leadership skills; the ability to provide positive direction to others and actively provide constructive feedback in order to develop & motivate others The ability to thrive during pressure situations and always keep composure Reliable, self-motivated and proactive A cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity to the welfare of others Have the necessary working entitlements to work in Australia Must not be affected by sea sickness A pre-employment medical and National Police Check may be required as part of this recruitment process.
