Southern Adelaide Local Health Network – Flinders Medical Centre – Intensive Care UnitTotal Indicative Remuneration Package $227,591 - $299,884 MD02 (pro rata) | FTE – 1 ONGOING PERMANENT Flinders Medical Centre is seeking a skilled and dedicated Critical Care Specialist and Home Parenteral Nutrition ConsultantThe SA Home Parenteral Nutrition Unit (SA HPNU) receives state-wide referrals for patients with intestinal failure requiring HPN.
The service includes management of long term central intravenous catheters, customisation of parenteral nutrition solutions, logistics of home delivery, management of complications of nutritional deficiency and long term parenteral nutrition and symptom control in conjunction with referring medical teams.
About the role: In addition to providing clinical care as a critical care specialist within SA Local health Network, this role includes a lead position in supporting the SA HPNU.
The SA HPNU provides a state-wide, bespoke model of care which has developed and evolved from the expert team of clinicians at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Flinders Medical Centre.
The HPN service remains physically located within the FMC ICU.
Responsibilities will include providing: Outpatient careAcute inpatient careEstablishment and management of Central Venous Access Devices (CVAD)Management of associated co-morbidities and complications of nutritional supportCoordination of care with other specialist teams About you: Bachelor Of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent.Demonstrated and proven high standard of clinical practice in Critical CareAbility to organise and conduct teaching and research in the Critical Care Unit.Experience with supervision and teaching of undergraduate and post medical staff.Experience managing critically ill patients.
