$24.46 per hour – Approx. 35 Hours Per Week
Term Position: Approximately January through October 2010
SUMMARY:
An excellent opportunity exists in CRD Regional Planning for a self-motivated student. The successful applicant will provide research and technical support in the broad areas of regional/land use planning, sustainable transportation and/or sustainable development.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data collection, manipulation, and analysis.
Providing research assistance (including literature reviews).
Translating technical information for non-technical audiences.
Preparing reports, fact sheets, articles and other information for web and hardcopy publication.
General office support (including responding to enquiries from the public).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualified applicants will have completed (or currently be enrolled in) senior post-secondary education in areas such as Urban & Regional Planning, Transportation Modelling, Geographic Information Systems, Urban Geography, Environmental Studies, or Ecological Economics. Applicants will have a minimum of one co-op term and/or six months' relevant experience. Strong data analysis and technical skills (GIS) are required as are excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to write clearly and concisely. Applicants will possess excellent time management and organizational skills, and be able to work under limited supervision. A keen interest in sustainability and active transportation planning are desirable. A valid BC Driver's license is required.
