Position Details THE ROLE The Practice Leader (Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making (AFDM)) role will work collaboratively with practitioners and teams to strengthen case practice with Aboriginal children and families, in order to provide effective service delivery and to support other practitioners. This position is responsible for co-convening Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making meetings for Aboriginal clients to develop plans to bring about the changes necessary to ensure the safety, stability and development of Aboriginal children and young people and to promote the achievement of case plan objectives within specified timeframes; working in partnership with the community co-convenor and Aboriginal organisations in providing community education, training and consultation for child protection and Aboriginal agency staff. The Practice Leader (AFLDM) will carry a caseload commensurate with their other duties. The Practice Leader (AFLDM) role will have some case planning responsibilities (in consultation with the Team Manager) and will to be expected to work closely, collaboratively and effectively with child protection practitioners at all levels. This role does not involve any formal supervisory responsibilities and is expected to be the first point of contact for AFLDM related issues. ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE Critical Assessment and Reflection Engaging in risk assessment and analysis as well as case management, reporting and engaging in reflective practice. Engaging Others Engaging with children, their families and support networks. Collaborating with other practitioners and services and sharing knowledge. Delivering Results Problem solving, making informed practice decisions, delivering improvements, and managing budgets to achieve best outcomes. Leading and Inspiring Providing practice leadership to families and stakeholders, leading and developing colleagues and working to improve the existing systems in the DFFH. WORKING IN RURAL VICTORIA INCENTIVE External applicants relocating to a regional area could be eligible for up to $20,500 worth of incentives.  Internal applicants relocating to a regional area could be eligible for up to $15,500 worth of incentives.  If you live and work in an area classified as 'remote' by the Australian Tax Office, you may also be eligible for additional salary packaging arrangements, such as mortgage interest, rental costs, and residential utilities.  COVID-19 VACCINATION The department strongly recommends (but does not mandate) that employees maintain their COVID-19 vaccination status in accordance with current ATAGI (Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation) advice , given their individual circumstances. As of June 2023, DFFH does not require evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status.
