The Course Coordinator serves as a pivotal link between the academic and administrative realms, receiving guidance from the Head of Department, and/or from the Dean and Chief Executive Officer.
This role involves reporting directly to the Head of Department for day-to-day operational concerns, while also apprising the Dean of operational corporate and academic issues, particularly regarding risk identification.

About the Role This role assumes a frontline position in course operations and management.
The Course Coordinator is entrusted with creating and maintaining a strong rapport with staff and students associated with the coordinated course(s).
Their responsibility extends to ensuring the equitable and consistent execution of policies and procedures.
Through effective communication and leadership, the Course Coordinator contributes to an academic environment that supports growth and excellence.
Key Responsibilities include: Assist in the development of new courses, support Course Advisory Committees, and contribute to research initiatives. Work collaboratively on external articulation arrangements, moderation processes, and academic benchmarking. Lead and coordinate scholarly activities and professional development for Higher Education staff within their field. Assist in the annual internal audit of Higher Education operations. Collaborate with the Dean to achieve organisational goals, encompassing marketing, finance, budgeting, admissions, graduation, and alumni relations. Actively participate in student and staff orientation and graduation ceremonies. Engage in program marketing and course promotion activities as directed. Prepare agenda and reports for various committees, including Academic Board, Course Progress Committee, Course Advisory Committee, and Teaching and Learning Committee. Contribute to the development, review, and renewal of academic policies and procedures. Monitor student progress, performance, and satisfaction with academic programs. Conduct performance reviews of academic staff in collaboration with the Head of Department or Dean. Offer insights on academic resource management. Fulfill other responsibilities pertinent to the academic governance of the organization, as directed by the Head of Department or Dean. Eligibility for AASW. About you Qualifications and Experience The minimum qualifications and experience required for this role include:
A post-graduate qualification at least one AQF level higher than the course being coordinated and in the relevant field or discipline of the coordinated course. A minimum of 5 years of managerial experience. A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience at the degree and/or post-graduate level. Continued Professional Development The Course Coordinator is expected to maintain a high level of industry currency and an in-depth understanding of the tertiary education sector.
While there is no mandated professional development requirement, a commitment to ongoing learning, with an annual allocation of 20 hours for professional development, is anticipated.
