Are you someone who enjoys leading a small team and having a big impact within their community?
Do you have a structured approach to challenges and opportunities, a robust understanding of legislation and have excellent communication skills?
If so, you could be the right person to lead our newly formed Corridor Management team within the Civil Operations Department.
As a member of the Civil Operations leadership team, you'll lead your team as part of a broader group to improve the transport connections across the broader community of the Rockhampton Region.
You will work with external stakeholders to ensure that whatever work is done within the transport corridor is done the right way and the safety of the community is ensured.
You and your team will take the lead on monitoring the day-to-day condition of the various transport networks, primarily identifying and prioritising routine maintenance tasks across the region and being the initial point of community contact for requests for service.
You'll champion a risk-based approach that is applied consistently across the region to ensure equitable service for all residents.
While there is a strong technical element to the role and formal qualifications in Engineering or a related field will be highly regarded, they are not essential.
An understanding of and experience in the application of legislation, policy and process will be highly regarded.
You will be presented with daily challenges and be provided support to build on your existing strengths and add new experiences to your skill set.
As this is a newly created role, there is plenty of opportunity to build this role around your unique personality and skills.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
What we are looking for
Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising a small technical team.
Ability to drive continuous improvements and performance whilst developing collaborative working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Experienced strategic and pragmatic thinker with demonstrated ability to lead change within a team environment.
Have knowledge of legislation, standards, and guidelines as relevant to the role.
Degree qualification in Engineering or Business will be highly regarded.

Application Criteria
Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Business, or significant measurable experience in a relevant field at a senior leadership level.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
Proven leadership experience in a Civil Works environment with the ability to inspire high performance through an inclusive culture.
Ability to develop, implement and refine technical standards, operational guidelines and other relevant systems related to road networks.
