The Role We are seeking a talented Corporate Lawyer with 4+ years PQE to join our in-house legal team at Lawpath Legal. You will provide strategic legal advice and business advisory services to startups and small/medium businesses across a variety of industries. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse corporate matters, including business structuring, commercial drafting, and trust-related legal issues.
Key Responsibilities: Business Advisory: Provide strategic advice on business structuring, entity formation (companies, partnerships, trusts), and overall legal strategy to help clients achieve their business goals. Commercial Drafting: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including shareholder agreements, service contracts, terms of business, joint ventures, and partnership agreements. Trust Law Expertise: Offer expert legal guidance on the establishment and management of trusts, including family trusts, discretionary trusts, and unit trusts, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Corporate Governance: Advise on corporate governance issues, director duties, and compliance with statutory requirements. Client-Focused Solutions: Provide tailored advice to small and medium businesses, taking into account their specific needs and challenges in a dynamic, fast-moving market. Risk Management & Compliance: Assist clients in identifying legal risks, implementing compliance measures, and ensuring regulatory adherence across corporate and commercial operations. Collaborative Innovation: Work closely with the internal product and marketing teams to develop new legal services that cater to the growing SMB market. What We're Looking For: Corporate/Commercial Law Expertise: Minimum 4 years post-qualification experience (PQE) with a solid background in corporate law, commercial drafting, and trust structures. Business-Savvy: A deep understanding of the challenges and needs of startups and SMBs, with the ability to provide pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice. Proactive Problem-Solver: Capable of quickly identifying issues and offering practical legal solutions in complex business scenarios. Adaptable & Independent: Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple clients, and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving work environment. Client-Centred: A dedication to building strong client relationships, providing exceptional service, and consistently exceeding client expectations. You will work in a fast-paced environment and be able to manage multiple clients and files simultaneously. Most importantly, you will be able to adapt and grow in a startup environment and help build the firm's practice areas. You will be supervised and supported by a principal solicitor.
