About the opportunity

The NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) has an exciting opportunity for a planning professional looking to utilise and expand their skills and knowledge whilst working with a team of dedicated staff and volunteers.

You will utilise your skills to lead teams to deliver emergency management planning, risk management and research outputs, including supervisory, mentoring and team engagement responsibilities.

Working within the Planning Team, you will take a key role in effectively building capability to meet community expectations and influence key whole of government and private entities around emergency planning, with a key focus of reducing the impact on communities in relation to the current flood risk. You will also work with internal and external stakeholders to reduce future flood risk.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

a passion for working with multiple stakeholders to develop and implement community focussed solutions;

relevant tertiary education and/or demonstrated experience in a related field;

sound knowledge and understanding of the consequences of natural hazards and their management;

demonstrated experience and awareness of NSW planning systems and the ability to interpret and apply policy in an emergency management context;

a valid Driver's Licence and/or the ability to travel to SES Unit locations;

thorough knowledge of AIIMS principles and processes, and/or willingness to obtain competence within 12 months.
