The Team The Regulatory Services Branch is embarking on a bold new strategic vision and is seeking dynamic, driven individuals to join them on this transformative journey. With a strong focus on delivering enhanced, effective and efficient environmental, community, regulatory, and public health services, the Branch has established a number of new roles to support this vision.
The Environmental Health Services Team is dedicated to providing high-quality environmental health services, including the provision of expert advice to both internal and external customers, issuance of permits and registrations, and conducting inspections to ensure legislative compliance. The Role The Town is seeking an experienced, proactive leader to fill the newly created position of Coordinator Environmental Health Services who will play a key role in advancing the strategic vision of the Regulatory Services Branch. With expertise in environmental health, they will be responsible for shaping and overseeing the Town's public and environmental health programs and services while providing guidance and mentorship to a team of Environmental Health Officers. No two days will ever be the same, offering a diverse range of tasks including but not limited to promoting awareness of environmental and public health issues through programs and procedures, coordinating investigations on complex noise, water, and air complaints, ensuring the Town's health inspection program is carried out to ensure compliance with relevant environmental and public health legislation, and providing technical advice to both internal and external customers.

What we are looking for Comprehensive knowledge of, and demonstrated ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, local laws, and practices relating to environmental and public health in a local government environment.Extensive experience in an investigatory, compliance, and/or enforcement role, including evidentiary requirements, and court proceedings.Highly developed leadership and team-building skills to coach and mentor staff to achieve high productivity, deliver excellent customer service and manage change and business improvements in line with organisational values, standards, and policies.Experience in policy and program development and demonstrated research and evaluation skills.Highly developed written and verbal communication skills which support negotiation, influencing, and problem-solving with a range of stakeholders, including the provision of written advice and Council reports.Tertiary qualification(s) in environmental health acceptable to the Chief Health Officer of the Department of Health, pursuant to the Public Health Act 2016.Authorisation as an Authorised Person and Inspector pursuant to the Environmental Protection Act 1986 is essential.Australian working rights (birth certificate, current passport or current visa).National Police Clearance (no older than 3 months).Why work for Town of Cambridge Up to 16.5% Superannuation (employer contribution)Flexible working hours / flexi-daysHealth and Wellbeing programEmployee Assistance ProgramTraining and Development opportunitiesFree access to Bold Park AquaticFree car parkingQuarterly staff cultural awards13 weeks Long Service Leave after 10 years service in Local Government.
