About The Role
The Contracts Principal will provide commercial and contract management to the key stakeholders within our sustaining capital team in order to support the successful delivery of sustaining capital projects with HanRoy.
Reporting to the Contracts Manager, Package Managers and site representatives, this role will manage multiple contracts from $500k - >$500m.
Main responsibilities of the role include: Lead and manage complex contractual disputes with suppliers and contractors to establish and determine a way forward.Commercially manage major contracts from inception to completion.Develop procurement and contracting strategies for a range of Contract values ($5m - >$500m).Advise HanRoy personnel and stakeholders on contractual rights and responsibilities.Manage the pre-qualification of tenderers for project contracts.Remain up to date with incoming communications from the contractors and subcontractors and provide support to internal customers.Assist in establishing tender and contract templates as model documents.Review and sign-off on tender documents prior to issue to tenderers.Review and sign-off on recommendations for award and variations to contracts.Manage the review, logging & distribution of incoming contractual correspondence.Initiate the issuance of formal, contractual notices to contractors.Ensure that status of variations to contracts is up to date and approvals of valid variations are expeditiously processed.Demonstrate skills in negotiating complex terms and conditions, performing risk analysis and mitigation, developing alternate language and providing actionable recommendations, working in close coordination with the cognizant legal representatives and management.Ensure that non-standard terms and conditions are properly reviewed and approved in accordance with policies and procedures.Facilitate the efficient closeout and certification of contracts on completion.Predominantly West Perth based role with some site visits.To be successful in this role, you will have: Bachelor of Science Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial or Construction Management.Master's Degree in Construction Law or Construction Economics (or similar) will be desirable.Minimum of 10 years' experience in the management of contracts on major resources and construction projects.RICS accreditation (or similar) will be desirable.A detailed understanding of technical, scope and logistical requirements for major construction projects, including contracting experience for EPC and/or Processing Equipment.Quantity Surveying experience.Ability to plan to deliver to a schedule with a high quality of detail.Ability to influence senior organisational and external stakeholders.High level of experience in direct negotiation with executive management and senior project management of contractors and related organisations.Ability to promote good working relationships within the Commercial team and externally.Proactive and open in communication with all interfacing parties.Ability to perform in a dynamic fast-paced environment.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, Aconex and other basic packages.Ability to apply effective management processes.Ability and experience in preparation and implementation of effective procedures for control of contracts in a major project context.Exposure to insurance and accounting requirements for major projects.Why Us
