The Opportunity: The Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council (QAIHC) is offering an opportunity to join a leadership organisation in a position where you will contribute high level subject matter advice, consultation, leadership, and support to QAIHC Members across all continuous improvement activities that will contribute to better Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes.
Organisation Overview: QAIHC is a non-partisan peak organisation representing all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) across Queensland at both state and national level. Our members deliver comprehensive and culturally appropriate, world class primary health care services to their communities. QAIHC was established in 1990. Our vision is the elimination of disparities in health and wellbeing experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland. QAIHC contributes to this vision by leading the development of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector in Queensland through evidence based, practical public policy solutions.
QAIHC has four key business divisions: Sector Development Policy, Advocacy, Leadership and Strategy Corporate Services Population and Public Health Sector Development The Sector Development division works closely with the sector to lead and build the organisational capacity and capability of our members. Our four sector development focus areas cover the risks and opportunities that impact on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector in Queensland. We develop the sector through leadership development, education, workforce planning, a Continuous Quality Improvement framework (quality standards and quality management) and through the promotion of a socially equitable funding model and system.
Policy, Advocacy, Leadership & Strategy The Policy, Advocacy, Leadership & Strategy division is responsible for developing high quality policy, submissions, briefings and publications that advocate for, and underpin, a strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled health sector in Queensland. Key policy mechanisms informing our priorities include QAIHC's Ten-Year Blueprint ******** for a strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled health sector in Queensland, the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, and the National Health Reform Agreement.
Population and Public Health The Population and Public health division of QAIHC provides public health and clinical advice and support, and policy analyses consistent with current best or evidence-based practice to member services and relevant QAIHC programs across other Divisions. Support is given for continuing quality improvement, epidemiology and data analysis, disease prevention, health promotion, position statements and submissions, including public health physician training. Member engagement is though the QAIHC Clinical Leaders Forum.
Corporate Services Corporate Services provides high level entity-wide administrative and operational support to all of QAIHC. This support includes financial, facility and information and communication technology (ICT) systems and process management. The Corporate Services business division is responsible for human resource support services, procurement and the marketing and communication functions of QAIHC.
Position Overview: The Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Officer sits within the Population and Public Health division and has responsibility for the delivery CQI activities, education and support to QAIHC Members. The position reports to the GM, Population and Public Health.
Key Responsibilities include: Work collaboratively with members to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate continuous quality improvement frameworks within their service Undertake CQI needs analysis for QAIHC member organisations Analyse and interpret CQI activity and make recommendations for improvement Support the coordination of formal and informal professional development opportunities for QAIHC Members in CQI Develop position papers, priorities, and strategies to determine CQI project deliverables Coordinate an annual CQI conference for QAIHC Members Coordinate a state-wide CQI network for QAIHC Members Contribute to the provision of timely and comprehensive program progress reports Maintain advice and support for quality improvement within QAIHC by working collaboratively across accreditation and Medicare enhancement efforts. Analyse and interpret data to evaluate the impact of CQI initiatives, identify trends and drive continuous improvements in quality and outcomes. Demonstrate knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Services and the quality management / clinical issues experienced Demonstrate understanding of and experience with Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) tools and methodologies Demonstrate knowledge of Health Care Standards and Accreditation programs as they apply to the ATSICCHS Sector Demonstrate high level analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively identify and manage risks and issues and the ability to challenge issues constructively Demonstrate high levels of integrity and resilience with the capacity to monitor, prioritise and meet deadlines Tell us more about your skills to enable us to assess your suitability.
