Consultant Psychiatrist RCH Hospital Consultation-Liaison team and Child and Youth HOPE team: Hub of medical precinct in Parkville, MelbourneWork for Australia's leading Children's HospitalChallenging and rewarding work environmentAbout the Role: This is a fixed term full time position at 80 hours per fortnight within the Mental Health Department for 3 years based at the RCH main campus and Travancore Campus.
You will be responsible for: Your role in the Child and Youth Hospital Outreach Post-suicidal Engagement (CY HOPE) teamProviding clinical governance to the RCH Child and Youth HOPE team through consumer reviews, meetings with parents, external agencies, and attendance at the team clinical review meetings. Providing supervision for the HOPE registrars.Your role in the Hospital Consultation-Liaison team (HCL)Providing clinical care to consumers with mental health problems admitted to the medical and specialty wards of the RCH. Providing expert clinical consultations to the Emergency Department (ED) Mental Health (MH) team through advice and guidance and/or direct reviews of consumers in the ED.What you'll achieve: Clinical governance for CY HOPE team and for the mental health care of patients referred to the Hospital Consultation Liaison service.Clinically lead a multidisciplinary team ensuring that RCH policies and procedures are adhered to.Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the Hospital Services Coordinator and the Team Coordinator of the RCH CY HOPE team.Promote and ensure adherence to the Royal Children's Hospital Values by all Department staff.Further develop initiatives and support the delivery of great care through Quality initiatives.Your skills and experience: Registration as a medical practitioner and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualification.Extensive experience in the mental health sector and sound knowledge of relevant legislation.Excellent clinical skills and a commitment to professional development.Completion of accredited postgraduate training in child and adolescent psychiatry.Accreditation as an RANZCP Supervisor.Other requirements: Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain.Valid Working with Children Check.Compliance with RCH's "Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases" procedure.Application process: To apply, you will need a resume and a tailored cover letter outlining your skills, experience, and suitability for the position.
