Midland is one of our busiest hospitals, with demand for public services consistently increasing every year, making it a dynamic and fast-paced environment to work in.Your Role at St John of God Midland HospitalYou will be a suitably qualified and experienced Consultant Physician and will provide specialist medical services as part of a high quality, holistic, and compassionate patient care team. You will see patients in an outpatient memory clinic, working in a multidisciplinary team, to provide assessment and management of their cognitive impairment syndromes. You will also provide support to Advanced Trainees in Geriatric Medicine and will review inpatient consult requests from other departments within the hospital. This position is for .3fte or 24 hours per fortnight.The PositionProvide geriatric services to patients in the public and private wards at the hospital as defined by your scope of practice for Midland.Undertake clinical shifts as agreed with the Head of Department, including participation in the on-call/after-hours/weekend roster.Accept appropriate referrals both internal and external to the hospital, in accordance with the hospital's role delineation.Awareness of indigenous customs and community expectations in considering how best to look after, admit or discharge indigenous patients.Regular review of patients, together with doctors in training with a focus on quality of care and discharge planning, ensuring that the medical record is accurately updated after each review.Clinical review and management of patients referred to hospital outpatient services, with a focus on returning the patient to the care of their GP or primary care provider at the earliest opportunity.Communicate effectively with all customers and patients using the appropriate channels, utilising appropriate formal and informal channels of communication.Participate as a valued team member promoting and contributing to a supportive team environment.Take a leadership role in education and monitoring of doctors-in-training.You will have Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and appropriate training and experience in Aged Care medicine.You will demonstrate an ability to work and co-ordinate multi-disciplinary teams and a commitment to the provision of a quality service at a personal and service level.Above all, people will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.We can offerHighly competitive salary & conditions ($332,650- $437,707 plus 11.5% superannuation per annum, pro rata for part time).A welcoming and supportive culture.Permanent Part-time.Salary packaging up to $18,550 on a range of benefits such as mortgage, rent, meal entertainment, holiday accommodation or other everyday living expenses.Professional Development Allowance $29,000 per annum.3 weeks Professional Development Leave per annum.Purchase up to 2 weeks of additional annual leave.Paid Parental leave 14 weeks full pay/28 weeks half pay.Free Car-parking.*All applicants are asked to submit a covering letter (of no more than two (2) pages) demonstrating how you meet the essential requirements of the role.For enquiries about this position, applicants should contact Karen Buxton, Department Secretary on (08) 9462 4487.Agency applications will not be accepted.Job closes Friday 13th December 2024.
