We're changing the way Australia generates its energy, are you ready for a change? HumeLink West Project Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 130km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.
HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia's eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia's largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.
The HumeLink West scope of works includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning 130kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.
Please note this role will initially be based in Sydney, with transition into a site delivery role requiring FIFO, where additional allowances will apply. Local based applicants would be highly considered. Role: We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing the construction of overhead transmission lines, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and oversee the end-to-end construction of green and brownfield substation projects, including planning, execution, outages, and close-out.Coordinate with stakeholders, including clients, engineers, and subcontractors, to achieve project objectives.Develop and manage detailed project schedules and budgets, providing regular updates to stakeholders.Enforce and monitor strict safety protocols and environmental compliance, adapting risk management strategies for high-voltage work.Conduct regular site inspections to assess work quality, progress, and adherence to standards.Resolve on-site issues proactively and facilitate conflict resolution between team members and subcontractors.Qualifications: Minimum of 15 years in power distribution, generation, or heavy civils construction, with at least 5 years in management roles, preferably in high voltage substations or similar projects.Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering or a related field preferred.Proven knowledge of high voltage substation construction methods, materials, and regulatory standards.Strong understanding of OHS and environmental legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).Excellent communication skills for engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.Relevant construction safety certifications and a valid Construction Card.About You We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
