The Compliance Officer role
An opportunity has become available for a Compliance Officer to join this successful group. You will be part of the legal team and will report directly to the Chief Legal Officer. You will be responsible for ensuring the group adheres to all relevant regulations and company policies. In consultation with the Chief Legal Officer, this role will implement a comprehensive compliance framework overseeing areas such as contract management, supplier due diligence, and risk mitigation strategies. You will also assist with the management of legal issues on a day-to-day basis under the direction of the Chief Legal Officer.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust compliance framework Monitoring and ensuring adherence to mandatory reporting Conducting thorough due diligence on potential suppliers Identifying and mitigating potential compliance risks Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant Australian building codes, industry standards, and procurement regulations Collaborating with the procurement team to ensure all purchases comply with established standards Conducting training sessions for internal stakeholders on procurement compliance procedures Maintaining, updating, and rolling out of template agreements in collaboration with cross functional stakeholders Liaising with the Senior Leadership Team and external law firms regarding corporate secretarial matters Reviewing, drafting, and/or developing non-complex legal documents (e.g., Non-Disclosure Agreements) and communications independently Independently handling legal and/or factual research as required About You:
You will have 3 years or more experience in a compliance role with a strong understanding of compliance regulations and best practices, ILPA, Modern Slavery, FSC Certification, and Climate-related financial disclosures. Strong written and oral communication skills are sought, and the ability to communicate confidently and effectively with the business and cross-functional teams is required. Legal qualifications are preferred.
