Compliance Officer

Details of the offer

Compliance & Risk (Banking & Financial Services)
Join this well established asset management company with long tenure and a commitment to your ongoing career development.

This role is available following internal lateral movement. Is this the opportunity you have been looking for to build your career in a highly commercial environment? This national company has a strong reputation as a leader in their field managing assets across the country. The breadth of their assets mean they have built a diverse and dedicated workforce who pride themselves on their expertise in acquiring, operating and developing assets; working with precision, and rewarding hard work with an exceptional culture. It almost feels like the perfect fit for a diligent and committed compliance officer looking to strengthen their career in this highly compliant financial business.

Interested? Let us tell you more about this great role.

Working within a small dedicated team, alongside a very experienced and tenured mentor, you will play a central role in in managing and maintaining the organisation's compliance framework, ensuring that processes run smoothly, tasks are completed with precision, and regulatory standards are consistently met.

What does that look like?

Well, varied! That's the best part. You will have exposure across the entire business, which is diverse and unique. Your key function is to support your manager with the operation compliance and risk program of work. This includes adherence to AFS licence, ASX and Corporations Act obligations. To do so you will need to manage the systems, registers and databases that work together to foster a strong compliance culture. You also will gain exposure to the Board and Compliance Committee as you work to prepare regular reports.

What do you need to bring to the role?

It goes without saying. Commitment to compliance - you either have it or you don't! As a true compliance enthusiast you will also have a cracking attention to detail. This is critical and is the key to your success. You will also need strong relationship building skills and an adaptable communication style. In addition, knowledge of the AFS/ASX field or prior exposure to the AML/CTF Act will also see you as a highly competitive applicant.

The best part is that there is no one perfect background that fits. You may have a legal background, come from a financial services field, have enjoyed a career in insurance, or just be a final year student in Law, Commerce or Business. This role can be flexible to the person who is the best fit for this culture-first organisation. We would look at experienced recent graduates through to those seeking to further develop their career in compliance by taking on more complex duties and legal matters. There really is a lot of scope here, but what else is in it for you?

What's on offer?

This role can offer something for candidates at any level - the salary will be commensurate with your experience but will be competitive.

The office is located in Deakin so free parking is nearby, but you won't need your car everyday because they have an office-wide work from home day every week!

Let's talk about hours - the role has in the past been performed on a part-time basis of 20 hours a week and this could continue. However, the organisation has some exciting growth plans and with this comes the opportunity for development within the compliance function. That means that the role can be re-scoped for someone looking for full-time hours, bringing in more complexity into the compliance management and freeing up the Compliance Manager to continue their development.

Last but not least, the culture. This is a diverse and caring workforce who like to celebrate the wins and milestones. Expect regular catch-ups, Friday lunches, morning teas and generally a welcoming and social environment.

So, in summary. This role will give you the opportunity to build a career in financial services compliance while making a tangible impact in an established company. Whether you are a final year student, an experienced compliance officer, or have a familiarity with legislation and finance, this opportunity is worth exploring and we can't wait to hear from you.
