About the Role
Due to recent internal structural change, Shaw Contracting currently has an opportunity for a full-time Compliance, Risk and Audit Manager based in the Launceston office. Reporting to the CEO, the Compliance, Audit and Risk Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the risk mitigation strategies and compliance initiatives within Shaw. This includes ensuring all operations adhere to industry regulations, company policies, safety standards, and relevant certifications.
A key component of this role is the ongoing administration of Shaw's integrated management system. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in risk management, safety protocols, and compliance procedures with the ability to lead and mentor teams in maintaining a safe and compliant workplace.
Key Responsibilities: Developing an annual plan for risk, auditing, and compliance management activitiesProvide advice and guidance to the Project Management team on WHS legislation.Facilitate and maintain Project Management Plans – SWMS, plans, inspections, reporting, KPI's relating to project risks.Assist with weekly and monthly project reporting requirements.Manage all compliance registers and inspections.Lead a risk management strategy for the organisation.Develop/update all associated risk management documentation i.e. policy, procedures etc.Support all Shaw sites by embedding a risk-aware culture.Facilitate Operational Risk Assessments and Reviews.Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations whilst taking a commercial and practical approach to risk-based challenges and offer appropriate solutions.Ensure senior management remain informed of regulatory, legislative and best practice changes and their obligations under these changes and how they impact Shaw.Identify and communicate as necessary industry developments and changes in best practice for risk and compliance management.Provide guidance to management, project teams, and contractors on safety and environmental duties, including the preparation, review, and upkeep of relevant documentation.Review critical data and reports related to ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001 standards, as well as OFSC audits, contributing to the development of strategies to address any identified deficiencies.Enhance employee HSE training by assisting in the design and delivery of internal programs and coordinating bookings with external training providers.Support the reporting and resolution of workplace incidents, ensuring follow-up on corrective actions and validating their effectiveness.About You: Current Drivers LicenceExperience with Lucidity software, highly regardedPrevious experience in a similar role; working in a high-risk environment, e.g. mining, resources, engineering, or construction sectorsUnderstanding of industry regulations and safety standardsPrevious risk management experience, highly regardedICAM lead auditor (preferred)Experience with ISO and OFSC accreditation (preferable)In-depth knowledge of HSE legislation, standards, and best practices.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.A strong commitment to fostering a safety-first culture within the workplace.All applications will be treated with strict confidence.
