Period of Appointment Fixed term 4 August 2025 to 14 August 2026 Hours per fortnight 73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.
Duties Make proper accurate records of court proceedings using the Digital Recording System, including typing verbatim in Court, ensuring timely and accurate records are kept, preparation of the Court's record of proceedings, and thereafter circulation to parties.
Provide executive and administrative assistance to the Associate Judge, including coordinating listings, diary management, liaison with practitioners on behalf of the Associate Judge, proofing judgments and decisions, and other tasks of an administrative nature as directed by the Associate Judge.
Coordinate proceedings in court and in chambers, including obtaining authorities and performing formal procedural roles such as swearing witnesses.
Undertake legal research tasks as directed by the Associate Judge.
Act as Associate to the other Judges as and when required.
The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications, and experience normally expected from persons occupying jobs at this classification level.

Minimum Qualifications A law degree or substantial progress towards a degree.
Completion of the Tasmanian Legal Practice Course at the Centre for Legal Studies, Hobart, or other practical legal training course approved by the Board of Legal Education.
Admitted as a legal practitioner or expect to be admitted in Tasmania in the year of application.
Applicants must hold a full driver's licence.
